Friday Updates - October 12, 2018
Plan to join us on the 15th of October for the Plymouth Public Library Corporation Annual Meeting. The business meeting will take place from 6:00 to 6:45. The slate of officers and the Treasurer’s Annual Report will be presented. Membership is open to all! At 7:00, we will enjoy some fabulous music presented by internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Sarah McQuaid, who is currently touring the U.S. and has included many libraries on her itinerary. (Don't be late for the concert, seats will fill up fast).

Calling all young chess players: in observance of National Chess Day this Saturday, October 13th, we are holding a Scholastic Chess Tournament - click here for details on how to register. The PPL Chess Club meets every Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM - newcomers and players of all levels are always welcome!
Also on Saturday, join us at 10:30 for coffee and muffins and enjoy a screening of a remarkable film of courage and endurance. A Gullwing at Twilight - we will watch the film, followed by discussion with the filmmaker.
At 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon, join us in the Meeting Room for a fabulous program of jazz with pianist John Funkhauser and flutist Peter Bloom in a musical tribute to Duke Ellington.
On Sunday, we welcome the New England Electric Auto Association (NEEAA), who will be hosting a hybrid/electric car show and ride-and-drive event in our parking lot from 1:00 to 4:00.
Book Clubs meeting this week:
The PPL Cookbook Club will meet on Tuesday, October 16th at 7:00 PM. This month's book is Sara Moulton's Home Cooking 101: How to Make Everything Taste Better.
At the Manomet Branch Library, the Vintage Reads Book Group will be meeting at 7:00 on Thursday, October 18. This month's title is Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy by John LeCarre.
NANOWRIMO is coming - a nationally observed time to support and encourage the writers among us. Join us at our Get Ready For NANOWRIMO get-together in the Board Room at the Main Library on Wednesday, October 17th.
Yoga with Barbara Ward will be at 8:30 on Thursday, October 18th and Buti Yoga with Kate Gomes will be at 6:15.
In the Children's Room:
There will be NO Saturday Story Stories this Saturday, October 13th. (Regular schedule will resume next week).
