Monthly Checkout Limits
As of January 2018, the monthly checkout limit for Hoopla Digital has been reduced from 10 per user to 5 per user. There is also now a budgetary cap to ensure sufficient funds remain in place to continue this service.
We understand that this will be a disappointing change for some users, but it was necessary due to overwhelming demand on the Hoopla product.
Hoopla is a pay-per-use service. Every time one of our cardholders checks out a Hoopla item, the Plymouth Public Library is charged for its use. This differs from physical audiobooks, CDs, and DVD/Blu-Ray movies, where we may be able to check out an individual item many times for one purchase. As Hoopla has grown in popularity among Plymouth Public Library members, it began to use an unsustainable portion of our budget.
