Join the Pop-Up Art School for a special October art class! Edward St. John Gorey was an American writer and artist noted for his illustrated books. His characteristic pen-and-ink drawings often depict vaguely unsettling narrative scenes in Victorian and Edwardian settings. We will make hidden faces in spooky imagery in the style of Gorey using scratchboards. Students will also have the opportunity to work on artwork for the Edward Gorey Envelope Art Contest! For ages 8-12. Registration is required.
This event has been developed with a donation from the Jen Kane Scholarship and Charitable Trust which provides scholarships, endowments and donations to charitable foundations in memory of Jen Kane, a Plymouth native who lost her life in the World Trade Center on September 11th. During the 2018/2019 programming series, we will be hosting performers and events that highlight various aspects of American history and culture for children and teens. At the conclusion of each program, participants may select a free book intended to supplement what they’ve learned. We will have books at various reading levels to suit the needs of a wide range of ages. In the spring, we will host a Family Trivia Night to celebrate and share highlights from the year.
