Become a part of Massachusetts history – plan now to contribute your family photos to the Mass. Memories Road Show, a state-wide digital archive based at UMass Boston, which will be setting up shop at the Plymouth Public Library on November 9, 2019 between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
All current and former residents of Plymouth are invited to bring up to three photos that represent themselves, their families and/or their community, whether very recently or generations ago. Any photos are welcome: family reunions, special occasions, snapshots, candids, weddings, military service, etc. Images can be old or new, physical or digital (unframed originals preferred). Mass. Memories Road Show volunteers will be on hand in the Meeting Room to assist contributors. The photos will be scanned onsite, and the originals immediately returned to their owners. There will also be a video area where individuals can tell a brief story about their photos on camera. Professionals will be on hand from the New England Archivists to advise contributors on how to care for and protect their precious family artifacts. All photos will become part of the archives at UMass Boston and online at https://openarchives.umb.edu
We want YOU to be a contributor! Our aim is to accurately reflect the composition of our community and to tell the full history of America’s Hometown on the eve of the 400th commemoration of the landing of the Pilgrims.
This event is being produced in cooperation with Plymouth County Convention & Visitors Bureau, www.SeePlymouth.com, and the Plymouth County Commissioners. The Project Partners are: Plymouth Public Library, Pilgrim Hall Museum, Plymouth Antiquarian Society, Plymouth 400, Town of Plymouth Archivist, Destination Plymouth, and PACTV.
The Mass. Memories Road Show is produced by the University Archives & Special Collections Department at the Joseph P. Healey Library, UMass Boston, and is co-sponsored by the Patricia C. Flaherty ’81 Endowed Fund.
