Now in the Gallery – Lens & Brush

The show in The Gallery from July through September 2019 is entitled “Lens & Brush” and highlights work by plein air artist Rick Murphy and photographer Rudi Pizzi.

Rick Murphy

Rick Murphy majored in painting at the Art Institute of Boston. His plein air work is inspired by scenes of the moon, water, and land. He is active in local art groups and has won awards and honorable mentions in juried and member shows in the area. “Lately I’ve been painting 24 x 30 plein air works that I call – windows of heave – big simple dialogs between subject and self.” Many of his works are owned by private collectors. His website is currently under construction and will be up soon. Stay tuned. To contact Rick, email him at [email protected]

Rudi Pizzi

“When I was studying architecture, photography was a tool I used in the creation of projects and to enhance the presentation of the final product. I incorporated the camera lens as a part of the design development process looking at elements of design such as form, space, geometry, light, texture and color. Over time, as I imiproved my knowledge of creative design, I also increased my interest in photography and learning that the elements were the same. Just as I had photographed the components of my designs, my work is now focused on looking for the elements of creative design in every photograph I take, regardless of the subject matter. To me, composing a photograph is similar to designing a building. I like to see how the visual building blocks in the elements of design can be combined into a unique whole.” To contact Rudi, email him at [email protected]

The art on display is for sale and the artists have generously agreed to donate 10% of the sale price from each painting to the Plymouth Public Library in support of our ongoing efforts to promote the arts in our community!
