Frozen Desserts Social: Health Information Can Be Fun!

For a real Summertime treat, a Frozen Dessert Social will take place at the Plymouth Public Library on Tuesday, July 23rd at 2:30 p.m. featuring a variety of healthier frozen desserts, including yogurt, and other dairy and nondairy treats. Learn about healthy ways to snack in the Summer with recipes and ideas from the National Library of Medicine’s MedlinePlus.gov website while enjoying refreshing treats. Outreach and Medical Librarian, Tom Cummiskey will demonstrate where to search online for reliable information.

Patrons can also have a free Ultraviolet Ray facial screening facilitated by a local healthcare professional. Increased consumer health literacy is the goal of the library’s Consumer Health Resource Center, which received grant funding from the South Shore Community Partners in Prevention and the National Library of Medicine, New England Region. Patrons can borrow books and other resources in addition to using a consumer health laptop in the library for health related searches.

This project is funded in part by the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, under Cooperative Agreement Number UG4LM012347 with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester. Additional funding comes from the South Shore Community Partners in Prevention, CHNA-23.
