Now in the Gallery – Tuesday Painters

The show in The Gallery from May 15 through July 15, 2019 is entitled “Tuesday Painters” and highlights work by a group of South Shore visual watercolor artists: Virginia Avery, Leah Bares, Sarah Bates Washburn, Anne Bosworth Pennington, Wendy Hale, Marsha Hanby, Cheri Herbert, Isabella Hoell, Alice Temple Hyslop, Ruth Rego, P. Anthony Visco, Mary Welty, and Virginia Wilson.

These painters have been meeting together for approximately 25 years. Virginia Avery was the instructor for the original group. She encouraged her students to pursue their own statement, style, and point of view; and to be bold and free in approach. After Ginny retired, the painters continued to encourage each other, to welcome and to help all newcomers to “find their voice.” For the past decade, they have been members of the Plymouth Guild and have enjoyed meeting at Plymouth Center for the Arts. We are happy to welcome them to Plymouth Public Library while the Center is undergoing renovation.

The art on display is for sale and the artists have generously agreed to donate 10% of the sale price from each painting to the Plymouth Public Library in support of our ongoing efforts to promote the arts in our community!
