2007 INCOME TAX FORM INFORMATION
The Internal Revenue Service and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue will be sending a limited supply of tax forms to public libraries this tax season. In addition, only the common forms will be distributed through public libraries.
Beginning January 2, 2008 the available forms will be located in the lobby alcove of the Main Library, 132 South Street and at the Manomet Branch Library, 12 Strand Avenue.
ADDITIONAL SOURCES FOR TAX FORMS:
Federal Forms
- www.irs.gov– print out federal tax forms and instructions from the Internal Revenue Service website.
- 1-800-829-3676 – call the Internal Revenue Service directly to request federal forms.
- Library Reference Department – photocopy forms from a binder provided by the Internal Revenue Service. (Photocopies are $.10/page.)
State Forms
- www.dor.state.ma.us– print out state tax forms and instructions from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue website.
- 1-800-392-6089 – call the Department of Revenue directly to request state forms..
Internet access is available at the Main Library and at the Manomet Branch Library. To reserve Internet access time at the Main Library you may call the Reference Desk in advance at 508-830-4250. Reserved access is limited to 1.5 hours/day; please have your library card number available when you call. Other computers at the Main Library are available on a first come/first served basis for a maximum of 1.5 hours use per day. Computers at the Manomet Branch Library are available on a first come/first served basis only. Forms may be printed at both library locations at a cost of $.10/page.
Tax Preparation Assistance
Beginning in mid-February 2008, there will be free tax preparation assistance provided at the Plymouth Council on Aging (not at the library). The program is open to anyone (not just the elderly) and it is free. However, they do restrict the types of returns they will complete; for instance, taxpayers with rental income, or who day-trade in the stock market, or run a business with more than 1 employee are ineligible.
