Story Time Programs

Our story times are designed to foster the six crucial skills that children must learn in order to read. These early literacy skills are: print motivation, letter knowledge, phonological awareness, vocabulary, narrative skills, and print awareness.

Weekly Story Times

All weekly programs take place at the Main Library unless otherwise noted.  For programs which require registration, you can sign up  online by clicking on the links in our Eventkeeper Calendar or by calling us at 508.830.4250, extension 210.

® Mother Goose on the Loose A thirty-minute lap-sit nursery rhyme and story program designed for young toddlers and babies. It is presented in ten-week sessions. Registration is required and includes all 10 weeks. Space is limited.

  • At the Manomet Branch: Mondays @ 10:00 beginning September 10th.  Ten week session through November 26th. Registration opens on August 27th.

    • for ages 0-24 months
  • At the Main Library: Tuesdays @ 10:15 beginning September 11th  Ten week session through November 13th. Registration opens on August 28th.

    • for ages 0-18 months
  • At the Main Library: Thursdays @ 10:15 beginning September 12th. Ten week session through Novem,ber 15th. Registration opens on August 30th.

    • for ages 0-18 months

Manomet Story Time ages 0-6 | A chance for parents, caregivers, and children ages 6 and under to enjoy books, songs, rhymes, and movement activities together while developing early literacy skills. No registration is necessary.

  • Mondays @ 11:00 — Manomet Branch, September 10th through December 10th.

Tots and Tales | ages 0 to 3. | A  lap-sit story time that gives our youngest library users an opportunity to enjoy all that the library has to offer: books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, puppets, new friends, and fun! They story time consists of age-appropriate rhymes, stories, songs, and other fun literacy building activities. Free. No registration is necessary.

  • Wednesdays @11:00 -- Main Library, September 12th through December 12th.

Family Story Time ages 0-6 | A chance for parents, caregivers, and children ages 6 and under to enjoy books, songs, rhymes, and movement activities together while developing early literacy skills. No registration is necessary.

  • Thursdays @ 11:00 — Main Library, September 13th through December 13th.

Saturday Story Time ages 0-6 | Can’t make the weekday story times? Join us Saturday mornings! This half-hour story program gives parents, caregivers, and children of all ages the opportunity to enjoy books, songs, rhymes, and movement activities together.

  • Saturdays @ 11:00 — Main Library, September 15th through December 15th.

Pajama Story Time | all ages | This  half—hour nighttime story program will offer a great opportunity for working parents and caregivers to attend a fun story time at the library with their children. Feel free to wear your pajamas! This program is free and no registration is necessary.

  • Wednesdays @ 6:30pm— Main Library, September 12th through December 12th.
