Blues, Ballads and Bebop

The Dr. Richard M. Shiff Forum presents: is pleased to host the virtuosic and versatile Bloom/Leighton Duo, who will perform a crowd-pleasing show of Blues, Ballads and Bebop on Monday, November 6 at 7:00. Expect high-energy blues, captivating ballads, and sizzling bebop numbers including music by Harold Arlen, Clifford Brown, Thelonious Monk, Hoagy Carmichael, Mercer Ellington, Bud Powell, Dexter Gordon and other great American tunesmiths.  View the program here.

Flutist Peter H. Bloom and guitarist Mark Leighton have performed together for 25 years, winning praise for their stellar musicianship and entertaining concerts. The duo is a member of the New England States Touring Roster.  Peter H. Bloom is featured on more than 40 recordings and is a faculty member of the Snow Pond Composers Workshop.  The Boston Globe called his playing “a revelation for unforced sweetness and strength,” while Jazz Improv hailed his “exquisite melody.” Mark Leighton is a jazz and classical guitarist known for his superb artistry and wide-ranging repertoire. He has performed as a solo recitalist and ensemble player across the Northeast.  He is a member of Copley Chamber Players and performs with jazz notables Billy Novick, Ted Powers and Larry Carsman, among others.
