Plymouth Cordage News – Now Online

CordageEntranceBetween 1945 and 1954, the Plymouth Cordage Company published a monthly company newsletter jam-packed with all sorts of information, ranging from updates on the rope industry to a wealth of employee related news, including announcements of hirings, retirements, births, engagements, weddings, and deaths (including many detailed obituaries). Working in collaboration with the Cordage Museum, the Library is now able to provide on-line access to most of these newsletters. Volumes 1-6 (1945 to 1950) and volumes 9-10 (1953 to 1954) are now available in ebook format, to view and download at your convenience.

The digitization of these volumes was made possible through the Library For the Commonwealth program of the Boston Public Library. This service is a partnership between the Boston Public Library and the Digital Commonwealth, a non-profit collaborative organization that provides resources and services to support the creation, management, and dissemination of cultural heritage materials held by Massachusetts libraries, museums, historical societies, and archives. The Cordage News files are hosted by the Internet Archive, a non-profit organization offering the public permanent access to historical collections that exist in digital format.
