New Student Orientation for Hi-SET Upcoming Dates

Each month, we offer a three-hour New Student Orientation session.  Each session begins at 10:00 am at the Main Library.  The dates for the academic year 2017 to 2018 are as follows:

  • September 25, 2017
  • October 30, 2017
  • November 27, 2017
  • December 18, 2017
  • January 29, 2018
  • February 26, 2018
  • March 26, 2018

All new students are required to be present for the full 3 hours.  During the orientation, you will learn more about our program and the different classes we offer.  At the end of the orientation, you will be assigned to your class. If you are under the age of 18, please have a parent or guardian present to sign paperwork.  After each orientation session, classes will begin on the following Tuesday unless otherwise noted. Please arrange to have transportation and childcare set up before your start date. If you need information regarding transportation or childcare, please let us know.

We offer 3 levels of classes. We will place you in the best class for you. Our classes are held in three different locations in Plymouth. Unfortunately, you will not be able to choose your location. You will be placed in the appropriate class for your skill level. We want you to be successful! Complete information on the locations, days, and times can be found here.

All classes and materials are FREE! In return, we ask that you are present at all class sessions for the full 3-4 hours per class. We have open enrollment from September through June. Students move up through the classes levels until they are ready to test. The amount of time it takes to go through the program is different for every individual.

What to Expect

You will meet with your instructor and a small group of learners who are working to improve their reading, writing, social studies, science, and math skills.

In addition, all students meet with the Educational and Career Advisor who teaches strategies for meeting education and career goals.

All students also meet with the Technology Coordinator to work on technology skills necessary for college and careers.
